We are Defiance Rafting Co.

Rock Gardens Rafting, located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, has operated out of Glenwood Canyon Resort for over 40 years. Our story of Defiance emerges from this rafting legacy.

In 2000, Gregory landed in Glenwood Springs and became a raft guide for Rock Gardens Rafting. At that moment, the seed of a dream was planted, although it would take well over a decade for the dream to become a reality.

So, why Defiance Rafting Company? The name Defiance is a nod to the original naming of the townsite that was later changed to Glenwood Springs.  Defiance also resonates with our story of defying conventional wisdom.  Our lives were complete with a lovely home and professional careers, and the creature comforts those careers provided. Yet, something was missing, and we seemed to be moving further away from our motivations while stuck in the daily grind. We desired community, getting back outside, and sharing our love of the river. Without looking back, we left it all to launch Defiance Rafting Company.

Defiance Rafting Company is more than pushing rubber boats down a river and making up for lost time; it is also about creating a platform for doing good in our community and having an opportunity to give back. We believe in creating lasting river memories and providing a forum for others to experience the greatness of the Colorado River, the magnificence of Glenwood Canyon, and the charm of Glenwood Springs. We thank you for contributing to our success and helping us extend our vision beyond what we thought possible.
